Artist's Comments

It's been a while since I painted a more complicated illustration for my fantasy world CaeLon.
I've done this picture for the daf calendar 2007 project on digitalartforum.de, so there was this close deadline and an exciting way to the finished picture. Many thoughts, many ideas.

This illustration depicts the game of two gods - Raa and Kaa, the gods of death and life. Every year they meet in Raas realm of death for one day and gamble for the souls of immortals, who can die by sword, too! (Kaas white token has to reach the end of the labyrinth without meeting the black tokens of Raa if he doesn't want to lose that soul)

Make sure you read the description that accompanies The game by ~Aeyolscaeras it describes the concept presented in this great fantasy painting more widely. (Suggested by *DailyDeviants and Featured by $spinegrinder)

This is pretty damn cool! Which one is Raa and which is Kaa? If I were to hazard a guess, Kaa is the bird-god?

Mrs. Robinson, if you don't mind my saying so, this conversation is getting a little strange

That is so insanely cool.

Challenge yourself everyday. Let's start now...

I feel like someone different every moment, and I just have to keep rediscovering myself every time.

That bird-god is Raa, you can hear the ravens call his name! :)
:icondubhghall:
