Worldmap Ardanea by Aeyolscaer Worldmap Ardanea by Aeyolscaer
What this map is not: a precise depiction of the world Ardanea. But it is an interpretation based on descriptions from travellers who have explored this world. Not every part of it is known well yet.

Excuse me, can I take the map as a template? It would erase everything leaving only the edge. Sorry if it is badly written, I speak Spanish and that is the reason I am using the translator

Your translation is fine. But I have to say no - this is a personal artwork and I wouldn't like to have it manipulated, because I wanted to have it individual and unique.

Why not try to create your own map for example with a tool like inkarnate.com/ ? (it's free, but you have to register)

No problem. However, Inkarnate does not meet the resources I need. Can you tell me how you do the maps? Where you get the funds, the process, etc. Do you know of a video, if possible in Spanish, to teach?

What kind of resources do you need?

I've found a Spanish tutorial on youtube, but I don't know it's any good for you, since I don't know Spanish. :) www.youtube.com/watch?v=pndYhX…
It's about drawing maps on paper. But it's the same rules as for drawing digitally, so...

If you are looking for mountain shapes/tree shapes etc. you can use for your map, you could try searching for "map brushes" on deviantArt.
Or check the resources of Cartography Guild on DeviantArt: cartography-guild.deviantart.c…

I can't tell much about how to create maps, since this was my first real try and I experimented very much. I didn't use any resources I haven't made by myself. If you tried that, too, you would find your own way, I am sure. :)
I'm using Photoshop for drawing and painting, but you also could create such a map with krita (free painting software).

For the basic shape of your map, you could try something like this: www.instructables.com/id/How-t… (just a random link, google for "how to draw a fantasy map" or something similar in Spanish).

Play around with the basic shapes until you are happy with the overall look - before you start adding details (like mountains, trees, cities...).

What a unique design choice, styling the whole world like a huge labyrinth! The place looks rife with secrets.

Do you have any scale for this map and has it been used commercially ?

I pondered about the scale but haven't really decided yet. So for now I leave that to the imagination of the viewer. The map hasn't been used commercially, it's for a personal project.

I like the idea of this being an Island Archipelago map with the suggested scale in hundreds of feet with a dragon at its centre, this way it works as an Arena rather than a whole world, Where our dragon can sit and decide which fight to get involved in.Love

This arena idea almost nailed one concept of the world, although it's mortals (play-things) who have to fight, not gods like the dragon or the huge spider (who sits in the middle here) or the dead raven for whom this is just a game against being bored. :D

This is really cool. :) I love the style and the different shapes of the land forms and all of the border elements. Just works so well and conveys a really interesting/intriguing place.

The style is quite something - it's not one you associate with maps. Which is a pity, because this one looks amazing :)

Oh, I didn't realize this wasn't a typical "map style" at all. :D I was mainly inspired by "fantasy maps" of fictional worlds, and a bit by historical maps. But I guess there aren't so many worlds with labyrinthian mountain ranges.

Thank you!

Is there a reason why this one has such unusual mountains?

Yes, the world is artificial - precisely it's an old space ship. I haven't decided yet why the surface has that labyrinth shape, since I don't know enough about its builders yet. Could have been a very old habitat of robots before they fled underground. Anyway, the land masses around the labyrinth mountains are just kind of a crust.

That the world is in fact an old spaceship was my first guess, believe it or not :D

Absolutely fantastical, would love to stand at the middle of this world and look out to every horizon and see such a jarring and mind-bending site.

I hope some day I'll find the time to illustrate some of these views - of course a look at it in virtual reality (VR) would be even better. :-D

Oh yes, this definitely took its time (and trial & error for finding a satisfying style for these mountain ranges). But it was very very helpful to have a clear idea in mind how the overall style & feel of the map should look like.

Oh wow! Thank you for this hint, I triple checked google if there exist places on earth which are called like the names I invented, but I completely overlooked that. I just liked the sound of the name, so what, being called like a fortress is cool enough. :D
